Wildwood Officials: Expect Local Road Closures Saturday for 5K Event

Wildwood officials are advising the public that temporary, short-term road closures will occur the morning of Saturday, April 20, 2024, in the east central/downtown area for the city's Autism Awareness 5K.

Motorists should anticipate closures beginning at 8:45 a.m. and plan accordingly. The following roads will be affected:

  • Barwick St.
  • Broken Oak Dr.
  • Denham St.
  • Gamble St.
  • Gray Ave.
  • Huey St.
  • N. Old Wire Rd.
  • N. St. Clair St.
  • Oak Terrace St.
  • Osceola Ave.
  • S. Gamble St.
  • Wonders St.

Closed roads will be reopened immediately following the passage of all race participants on that segment of the route. Officials note that Powell Rd. will remain open to vehicular traffic, with the route following the sidewalk for that portion of the race.

“Our teams are working together closely to minimize any inconvenience to local residents and the general public while protecting the safety of runners, walkers, spectators, and race staff,” said City Manager Jason McHugh. “I encourage citizens to come out and cheer on everyone participating in this fun and meaningful event.”

The city’s Autism Awareness 5K is an initiative of the Wildwood Police Department in partnership with the Jack & Allie Foundation and ABELS Learning Academy for Autism, along with many local business sponsors.
