Wildwood Now Offers Free Summer Meals to Students
City of Wildwood officials have partnered with the Sumter County School District to add the city’s two summer camp locations as Summer BreakSpot sites.
The federally funded program, administered by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in collaboration with local organizations, provides nutritious foods at no cost to children ages 18 and under during the summer school recess. It operates every weekday through June 26 and from July 6 through July 23, 2026, at the Wildwood camp locations.
“We are thrilled to have established such a vital relationship with these partners,” said Parks and Recreation Director Courtney Kellem. “Along with its growing reputation as a vibrant retirement community, Wildwood also has many younger residents in need. This programming helps us provide some of our city’s most vulnerable individuals with healthy meals to help fuel their growth and development.”
Breakfast is offered at the Jackson Street Youth Center, 610 Jackson St., from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Lunch is served between 11:30 a.m. and noon. At the Fourth Street Youth Center, 602 Fourth St., breakfast is offered from 8 to 9 a.m., with lunch served between noon and 12:30 p.m.
BreakSpot participants do not need to be enrolled in Wildwood’s summer camp program, nor do they need to register. Students ages 18 and younger can stop by either location at the designated times to receive the meals.
