Re-connection Fees for Non-Payment of Utilities

RE-CONNECTION FEE FOR NON-PAYMENT:     $20.00 min.

Accounts not paid by the 15th of the month are considered delinquent and may be subject to a 10% surcharge and suspension of utility service(s). The date of anticipated suspension will be notated on each month's utility bill.

If the City suspends a utility service for non-payment, the account holder will be charged a re-connection fee of $20.00, which must be paid before service is resumed. Subsequent or repeated disconnections may result in increased reconnection fees and/or potential closure of the utility account.

Service shall only be resumed by the action of City of Wildwood personnel. If water service is resumed (i.e., water service valve turned to allow flow) by a homeowner, landlord, or any other non-City entity, the utility account holder shall be charged a minimum $50.00 tampering fee, and service will once more be suspended. Repeated offenses will result in additional tampering charges, and referral to the City of Wildwood Police Department for criminal tampering of a municipal water system and theft of a utility, per 812.14(2) Florida Statutes.

The City of Wildwood reserves the right to place a lien on any property where the property owner has incurred past-due utility debt. The value of such a lien would total the amount of the past-due utility account balance, plus any fees incurred from the collection process. This lien shall only be satisfied by full payment of all associated balances and fees.
