Vacation Services

The City of Wildwood offers customers leaving on vacation the option of placing his/her utility account on a vacation status. Vacation status is advantageous to a traveling resident in that it ensures minimal utility bills, as well as protects the resident or homeowner against the potential of interior flooding damage.

When a customer requests to place his/her account on vacation status, a utility service technician is dispatched on the date chosen to turn off and lock the water meter. This prevents any further water flow to the property. As such, for so long as the meter is off, there will be no water/sewer usage billed to the customer. Additionally, if there were a sudden failure of any plumbing in the home, no water will be able to flow from the resulting leak, preventing catastrophic water damage.

During this time, if the utility customer also receives garbage collection service through the City, garbage collection and billings will cease until the customer returns and requests normal service be resumed. At time of service restoration, a small one-time re-connection fee will be billed to the customer.

 

TO SET UP VACATION SERVICE:

a. Notify the Physical Environment/Utility Billing Department during business hours (Monday - Friday, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm) of the date you wish to disconnect and date to re-connect (if known).

b. Re-connection Fee (Upon return):  $15.00

c. Garbage collection fees are discontinued.

d. Customer will still be responsible for arranging payment for water/sewer base rates and utility tax during this time.
