Greenwood Cemetery Board

The Greenwood Cemetery Board's purpose is to oversee the administration and maintenance of the City's Greenwood Cemetery per the City Charter Article II (shown below). 

We are currently seeking applicants for this board who are interested in the maintenance of the final resting place for the citizens of Wildwood's loved ones, and who are willing to commit to a meeting once per quarter (and occassionally a special called meeting).  To apply, please download and complete the Application for Volunteer Service - Boards and Committees form and return it to City Hall. 

ARTICLE II.  GREENWOOD CEMETERY BOARD*

Sec. 6-26.  Created; purpose.
There is hereby created the Greenwood Cemetery Board for the maintaining and administration of the Greenwood Cemetery, which is located in the city.

Sec. 6-27.  Composition; officer; vacancies.
The Greenwood Cemetery Board shall be composed of five members to be appointed by the city commission, with vacancies to be filled by appointment by the city commission. Each member shall serve for a term of two years. Board members will elect their own officers by majority vote of the board.

Sec. 6-28.  Meetings.
(a)   Regular meetings.  The board shall meet on a quarterly basis with the first meeting occurring on the second Wednesday in January, the second meeting occurring on the second Wednesday in April, the third meeting occurring on the second Wednesday in July, and the fourth meeting occurring on the second Wednesday in October. These meetings shall be held at 5:00 p.m.  The clerk shall send each board member a notice of the meeting at least two weeks prior to the meeting and the clerk shall notice the meetings to the public in compliance with state law. 
(b)   Emergency meetings.  Any member of the Board may call an emergency meeting. To call an emergency meeting, the member shall give written notice to the clerk of a need for the meeting and the city clerk shall give at least six hours written notice to each board member of the date and time of the emergency meeting and the clerk shall further comply with any notice required by state law.

Sec. 6-29.  Treasurer.
The city clerk shall serve as treasurer of the Greenwood Cemetery Board, but it is not to be construed that the treasurer is to be a member of the board thereof.

Sec. 6-30.  Rules and regulations.
The Greenwood Cemetery Board shall prepare and submit to the city commission all rules and regulations promulgated by the board for the approval of the city commission. Upon approval of the submitted rules and regulations by the city commission, they shall have the force of law.
