6500 Powell Road
Wildwood, FL  34785

The Wildwood Community Center / Storm Shelter was constructed and opened in October of 2003.  Besides being a rental facility for meetings, weddings, training sessions, wedding & baby showers, birthday parties, family reunions and other events, the building is also a State of Florida designated Hurricane/Storm Shelter.  The use of the building as a shelter takes priority over any rentals which may have been scheduled in the event the state or local Emergency Management must open it as an emergency evacuation shelter.  If that occurs, Emergency Management has complete control of the building and the City has no authority over it.

The building was designed so that it could be used in many different configurations and by several users at the same time.  The bottom floor can be used as one large room or be broken up into as many as four separate rooms.  There are two warming kitchens on the first floor.  The second floor is one fairly large carpeted room designed for more prestigious events and also contains a warming kitchen.

For rental information, please see our Rental Forms and General Information page or contact Erika Corley, Parks & Recreation Special Events Coordinator, at (352) 461-0134.
